Near corner, trainer set diagonally

The angle that was supposed to save the window turns out to strangle both uprights.

Why it fails

Rotated into a corner, the trainer's back edge touches each wall 38.9" from the corner, which puts both uprights hard against the walls. Clearance along each flank runs from zero at the upright, through 20" at the midpoint, to 40" at the front corner. The guidance is 24" minimum around the entire perimeter for pin access, pulley adjustment and maintenance, and 36" for comfortable lateral movement, and the uprights are exactly where you need that access. This is the worst side clearance of any option here, the opposite of what I assumed when I first drew it.

The footprint

A 55" by 40" rectangle rotated 45 degrees needs a 67" by 67" square of corner, roughly double the flush footprint, and leaves a dead triangular wedge about 27" deep behind it. Paying double the floor for worse clearance is not a trade worth making.

What it did get right

The angle genuinely does lean the tower away from the center window, it stays 18" clear of the treadmill's run-off lane, and the diagonal gives 96" of clear pull, more than the 83" a long wall offers. Those are real advantages. They are just not worth losing side clearance at both uprights.

The other two problems

A diagonal unit cannot bolt flat to either wall, so if the manual calls for wall attachment this is not available at all. And a vaulted ceiling makes the walls the low points and a corner the lowest point of all, the worst place in the room for an 82" tower carrying a chin-up bar.
